1. Files 1976-1995 1984-1995 2 boxes
Series Scope and Content Summary
This Series consists of Mr. Grant's project files. Most of the files are correspondence, though there are also handwritten notes; minutes from meetings with the architect, contractors and sub-contractors; and the New Jersey Department of Building and Codes, which provided construction management for the project; copies of the draft and final lease between the State and NOAA; financial information pertaining to both the project financing, as well as the construction costs; newspaper clippings; and legislative information.
Arrangement
Folders in this series were for the most part already filed alphabetically by the folder titles assigned by Mr. Grant. The Library moved a couple of folders to retain the alphabetical order and combined two files boxes into one archival box. There were a few folders that lacked an adhesive label with the folder title and in those cases, the Library assigned a folder title. Assigned titles are noted in the Container List. The prefix "Sandy Hook Laboratory," in its various configurations, was removed as a prefix so that researchers can more easily understand the content of each file folder. Punctuation was generally transcribed as it appeared on the folder labels, while acronyms were expanded. However, the original file folder titles have, for the most part, been retained.
The box consisting of loose files was sorted according to its source. The source party was assigned as the folder title. When these folders also held documents of particular importance, the document title was included with the source in the folder title. These items are held in Box 2 of this Series.
2. Printed Materials 1986-1991 1 box
Series Scope and Content Summary
Series II includes proposals, reports, studies, and architectural plans that were published or issued.
Arrangement
The items that constitute Series II did not have any original order; the items were haphazardly jammed in a deteriorating box with some loose files. The Library filed these documents in order of date of publication or issue.
