During an infrared radiation thermography survey, the plane crew take a photograph of the original Sandy Hook Laboratory campus. Located on Officer's Row and facing the Sandy Hook Bay in the historic Fort Hancock section of Sandy Hook, the Laboratory campus consisted of a three-story building that was previously used by the Army as a hospital and three adjoining structures. Laboratory staff are standing on the building porch and the Atlantic Ocean can seen in the background of the photograph.

This item was donated by Malcolm J. Silverman in 2010. Silverman, who once worked at the Laboratory as a biologist and who participated in the Laboratory's IRT (infrared radiation thermography) surveys took many aerial photographs, which he later digitized and gave to the James J. Howard Marine Sciences Laboratory. The Lionel A. Walford Library maintains digital images on a server to ensure their long-term availability.
